Annual General Meeting 2019
Saturday 26th January, 6pm at Newtown Social Club, PO21 5EU
See you there!
See you there!
Thought it was about time I wrote a newsletter to you all. Swimmers are doing really well, numbers are steady, but we still can fit some more in the pool. Do you know anybody??
For those of you that don’t come into the pool, there are now new chairs instead of the benches to sit on, a lot more comfortable for spectating.
We had an invitation from Littlehampton Swimming Club to join in with their 1st Bonfire Gala at Windlesham School. 14 swimmers from our club swam, all of them achieving PB’s. Some also came away with ribbons ranging from 1st to 5th place. It was a ‘teaching Gala’ so it was ideal for us to join in, it was a great opportunity for the swimmers to swim in a different pool and under Gala conditions. I have some photographs that were taken on the day, I will get them put on our website along with the results sometime this week. I would like to say thank you to everyone that helped on poolside, Charlotte Wilson, Jo Macrae, Christopher Sargent and all the spectators that cheered the swimmers on, a great afternoon. Well done to all our swimmers too! Hopefully we might be able to put something on like this in the future and invite other clubs to attend.
Littlehampton have also invited us to come to their ‘Long Distance Club Championships’ but it was quite short notice, maybe we could look at attending that next year.
What’s happening
During next week I will be doing some 200m front crawl time trials for the swimmers that are competing in the ‘Littlehampton Splash into 2019’ Open meet, details and forms are on the poolside notice board. Any of the swimmers who are 9 or over can attend, it’s a local Open meet and it gives the swimmers an opportunity to see how they are compared to other swimmers of their age. It would be nice if your swimmer could do 1 or 2 events, it is £6 an event!!
I have booked a Christmas tick over session at the Arundel Lido on Friday 28th December at 9.30am till 10.45am for 12 years and under and for 13 years and over 10.45am till 12noon, Littlehampton will be sharing with us, should be fun, come and swim outside in December!!!! There is no charge for this session.
Christmas dates are as follows:- Normal training programme till Wednesday 19th December, Christmas fun session Friday 21st December, Arundel Lido Friday 28th December and normal programme recommencing Wednesday 2nd January 2019.
I hope you have a lovely Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
Well done to everyone who took part in our ASA Level 1 Coaches course during May, at our home pool, the Arena in Bognor Regis. This was a very well attended course, with many of the trainee coaches coming from all over the country, as far away as Scotland and apparently, even the UAE overseas. They all showed great enthusiasm and commitment, and enjoyed their time at BRSC.
Here’s what our swimmers and parents got up to over the Christmas holidays.
First up was the 12 Swims of Christmas on December 23rd. Swimmers from all squads, from the littlest to the biggest took part in our 12 Swims, where each line of the traditional Christmas carol was given a bit of a twist to include racing starts, butterfly, tumbleturns, mushroom floats, bombing etc.
