Bognor Regis Swimming Club has been running for over 50 years, and the success of the club is down to its members.
We are a competitive club, and our training is geared around this. We work on a 16-week programme, stroke technique, turns, starts and finishes.
As the swimmer’s progress and start to gain stamina and speed with the correct technique they move up the squads. Minnows being our start out squad, Seahorses, Dolphins, Barracudas and Marlins.
Open Meets and local galas we attend regularly, here the swimmers often achieve personal best times and win medals or ribbons. We also have inter club competition where the swimmers compete against each other in their age groups.
Our Vanessa Knight Memorial Open Meet, just before the May bank holiday is our club Open Meet where other clubs come to compete against other club swimmers for medals. This Open Meet is unique as it is a Licensed A, B, C grade meet. This gives the opportunity for swimmers to achieve personal bests and win medals.
Our coaches are qualified or working towards their qualification. Everyone on poolside has a DBS check, and must regularly attend child protection seminars.

2019 was a great year for the club, with new coaches, club lifeguards, new committee and swimmers achieving county times. Half way through the year our home training pool ‘The Arena Sports Centre’ was refurb and new comfortable seating was provided.
During the year we attended various open meets, where our swimmers competed for the club with many achieving PB’s. This gave great aspiration for the swimmers to do well in their training and can’t wait to compete at their next meet.
As a team we invited to attend our 2nd Bonfire Gala where we competed against Littlehampton Swimming club. This is a novice gala held at Windlesham School in October, it encourages every eligible club swimmer to compete, regardless of age or ability. Most swimmers swim in 4 or 5 events which are 25m all strokes and have the opportunity to swim 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and 50m Breastroke. As this is a teaching gala the swimmers are talked through the gala procedure for each stroke, including demos from senior swimmers. This a great event to introduce swimmers to competition. Our swimmer this year embraced the experience with them all gaining high placing and overall achievements.
Our Christmas fun swim at our last training session rounded off 2019 with all enjoying the music, large floats and determination to beat the inflatable!
We have been working with a local supplier JW Sports in Bognor Regis to produce our new team kit. Our range consists of training/gala t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, hoodies and kit backpack. All kit can be ordered online or you can go into the sports shop.
The Gala Kitconsists for the Embroidered White T-Shirt and Black Shorts with club logo and printed Gold Initials Only. All swimmers who enter galas/open meets and are representing the club are required to wear the new team kit.
